Ever wonder how we make our communion bread for Kerr? Are you worshiping at home right now and hoping to make your own communion bread? Watch Pastor KJ’s videos below to learn to make your own communion bread to celebrate the Lord’s Supper.
At Kerr we usually celebrate the Lord’s Supper together on the 2nd Sunday of every month. This is a time of great celebration because we remember that our Lord Jesus Christ willingly gave his life for our salvation, and we will one day participate in a heavenly feast because Jesus defeated death and is alive!
To participate in this celebration while physical distancing from home, you can join us at 11AM on Zoom using the link on the Kerr homepage. There is a password so see Pastor KJ or any session member if you need it. Also, we are worshiping with physical distancing precautions in the building, and we are using individually sealed cups if you are healthy and would like to worship in person.
If you are worshiping at home, feel free to use any bread or crackers and any juice or other liquid you have available at home. Our Lord used common elements which were available to him during his time on earth, and we can do the same. But if you would like to prayerfully develop an unleavened bread to use for communion, you can follow the recipe and make your own communion bread. This is what we use every month at Kerr for our communion celebration.
- 1 1⁄2 cups flour (I use all purpose, unbleached)
- 1⁄2 cup whole wheat flour
- 1⁄4 teaspoon salt
- 1⁄3 cup sugar
- 1⁄2 cup butter (one stick-at room temperature)
- 3 tablespoons milk (may need a little more)
If you would like to make your own bread, you can make it along with Pastor KJ (she made this video for our Maundy Thursday Celebration):
Here is the bread when it is done:
Hope to see you all for our regular communion celebrations. God bless you and happy baking!
