This Sunday, January 3, we will begin a new 6-week sermon series called “Life in the Spirit.” Here’s a sneak peak:
January 3: Epiphany Sunday: Isa 60:1-6 and Matthew 2:1-12; Come explore how the Holy Spirit blurs the lines between the sacred and the secular on this day when we remember the coming of the Kings. Frankincense may be used in this service.
January 10: Baptism of the Lord Sunday: Acts 19:1-7 and 1 Cor 12; What does it mean to be baptized in the Spirit? Come to study Scriptures which address this question and be renewed in the Spirit of God.
January 17: Freedom Rising Sunday: 1 Samuel 3:1-20 and Psalm 139; Come learn about the Freedom Rising Program and Celebrate the God who opens our eyes and ears on this Martin Luther King, Jr. Rememberence Weekend.
January 24: Following God: Jonah 3:1-10 and Mark 1:14-20; What does a radically repentant life look like? We’ll explore life in the Spirit for two different groups of believers.
January 31: Choosing the Good: Ps 111 and 1 Cor 8; We are set free in the Holy Spirit and can do anything. So why choose good? This Sunday we will consider the beauty of life lived under God’s direction.
February 7: Living Like Jesus, Humbly: Isa 40:21-31 and Mark 1:29-39; Yes, Jesus had great power and in the power of the Holy Spirit, Jesus lived a life of humility. We will close this sermon series by looking at Jesus’ life and our call.
Come and worship using all or some of this new series at Kerr Presbyterian Church and Happy New Year to all!
*Note: This sermon series is generally based on the Revised Common Lectionary. Regular attenders are encouraged to spend time daily in prayer and Scripture reading. There is no greater joy than spending time with God.
