This service of worship was created for Sunday, March 29 by Kerr Presbyterian Church to call all worshiping from home during the Coronavirus social distancing to gather together in worship and prayer.
Hello Kerr Family,
I am so thankful for you all and for the many ways we have been gathering together virtually during this time. As you may know, at Kerr every 5th Sunday of the month we invite special musicians to join us as leaders in worship. This week, the General Minister to Pittsburgh Presbytery, Rev. Dr. Sheldon Sorge (e.g. the pastor to the Presbyterian Pastors in Pittsburgh) had graciously agreed to join us along with our friend and Presbytery Member, Trombonist Hill Jordan. Instead, both of them and also Rev. Sorge’s wife, Rev. Tammy Wiens, agreed to lead us in worship digitally. I am so thankful for their love of the Lord, their leadership during this time, and for the beautiful works of music they created. Kerr, we are in for a treat as we come to worship today! Many blessings, everyone.
Love, Pastor KJ
As we come together in worship here is a song sheet for today.
Read Psalm 130 or listen to it read aloud:
Let us stand in body or mind to join in singing Precious Lord, Take My Hand as lead by Rev. Dr. Sheldon Sorge and Rev. Tammy Wiens.
And let us continue in a spirit of worship with Just a Closer Walk.
Here is Elder Scott Davis with a message for our kids:
Our Scripture for today is John 11.
Listen to a sermon on this week’s Scripture.
Spend some time in prayer and reflection by listening to The Lord’s Prayer played by Rev. Dr. Sheldon Sorge on piano and Elder Hill Jordan, soprano trombone.
Part of worship is the giving of our offerings. There are many kinds of offerings. We can give God:
- Our time (as you did already today!)
- Our talent (by serving in the community especially in this time of social isolation–consider making a phone call or writing a card or contact Pastor KJ to be involved with next week’s online worship)
- Our treasure (consider giving to Kerr Presbyterian Church online during this time when we are not gathering in person or send a check to Kerr Presbyterian Church)
As we close our service of worship, let us stand and give God glory by singing the Gloria Parti. We can join with members Faith Brown, Carrie Nery, and Lana Slebrich.
And may the peace of God which surpasses all understanding guide your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus (Phil 4:7). Amen.
