Hear Pastor KJ read a story to our kids about how God works in Joseph’s life even in a very difficult time.
This video is our second “Storytime with Pastor KJ.”
It was recorded specifically for kids who may be home from school during the Coronavirus outbreak. This story, taken from Genesis 37-46, is read from The Jesus Storybook Bible by Sally Lloyd-Jones, Illustrated by Jago, Published by Zonderkids, 2007, pages 76-82. Adults are also encouraged to read the Daily Lectionary which is currently focusing on this story.
After watching the video, you could ask the kids the following:
- What gift did Jacob give his son Joseph?
- How did Joseph’s brothers feel when Joseph was given a special present?
- What did Joseph’s brothers do because of their jealousy?
- How did you think Joseph felt when he was sent far from home and punished even though he hadn’t done anything wrong?
- How did God work everything out for the good?
- What does it mean to be forgiving? How did Joseph forgive his brothers?
- How can you show love and forgiveness to other people in the family?
Encourage kids to act out the story in their own words. They could also draw pictures of the characters and cut them out and then use them as puppets to act out the story. Share your pictures or puppets online with others watching this video.

For older youth and adults, here is a sermon based on this story.
Blessings to you all as we remember God is with us even in difficult times!
