“Worthy are You, our Lord and our God, to receive glory and honor and power; for You created all things, and because of Your will they existed, and were created.” –Revelation 4:11
Our Scripture reminds us over and over that God is the creator and sustainer of all creatures. On October 7, 2018, we celebrated God’s power over all of creation with an unusual service: A Blessing of the Animals. 29 people and 9 dogs attended an outside service to praise the Lord and receive a blessing of food and love. In addition, a bird, a guinea pig, many cats, and other dogs were remembered in our prayers. Although the idea of blessing animals is not new (God blessed the animals as far back as Genesis 9 in the Covenant with Noah), this was the first time Kerr Presbyterian held a service like this. By all accounts it was purr-iffic, and we hope to do it again next year.
